Uriel Renovables is the company within the group dedicated to the development, construction and operation of renewable energy projects: hydroelectric, wind, solar photovoltaic and biogas generation. Founded in 1988, the company has an international presence in Europe, North America, South America and the Caribbean, and it has developed projects for more than 400 MW in the different technologies.

Uriel Renovables’ strategy is to be involved in every stage of the renewables business, from development of the project (greenfield development) to financing, construction and long-term operation (build, own and operate), using all of its internal capacities and the know-how acquired, entirely independently, in different proven technologies. In the case of landfill biogas generation, through the subsidiary Energía Sur de Europa (ENERSUR), the physical construction and operation and maintenance (O&M) of the project are also undertaken, using specialised personnel.

Since 1988, the company has created a significant portfolio of highly profitable projects, whilst also making occasional disinvestments at different stages of development, generating a great deal of value for the group.

The medium- and long-term strategy consists of growing, fundamentally in the solar, hydroelectric and biogas sector in Spain and in new and promising markets, such as those of Poland, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay and the Caribbean, with more than 1,000 MW currently under development. There are also major opportunities in markets in which environmental rules, requiring the degasification of landfills, are beginning to be implemented, such as Mexico, where ENERSUR already has a presence with three projects, and, in general, the whole of Spanish America. The main objective is to manage the operational assets (asset management), taking advantage of our extensive experience in this field.
